About the Maps
We have held a first edition copy of John Cary’s 'New and
Correct English Atlas' in our library for many years.
The images in the atlas are in their original condition, being
black only without the addition of
hand colouring.
The majority of coloured maps of that period were hand coloured
by apprentices as it was not possible to print colour.
Being only printed in black enabled us to reproduce the original
engraved images and then produce hundreds of hand traced overlays
to add colour in the hand coloured style of that period.
Our framers were established in 1959 and with over forty years
of experience they are renowned across Europe and beyond for providing
products of the highest quality. We have been using them for over
twenty five years and our success is down to supplying good service
and quality products at affordable prices.
Orders supplied to the UK are supplied with clear glass. Orders
to other countries are supplied with clear styrene for safety reasons.
